Make Your Own Map

Make your own map animated gif

These simple steps to help you make your own map can get budding cartographers outside discovering their local area. It’s not just uncharted territories that need exploring, get outdoors wherever you are!

  • Head out into your neighbourhood with a clipboard or notepad and some coloured pens and pencils (don’t forget to get permission before you go out exploring).
  • Fill out a map of your surroundings and label everything by designing some different symbols. You can even mark where you live too.
  • Don’t forget to draw a key in the corner of your map to explain everything.
  • If you have a compass, why not try adding the bearings to the map so you know which direction to go.
