Encourage children to investigate ‘nature’s orchestra’ by listening to the sounds around them when they’re outdoors. Ask them to imitate what they’ve heard and compose their own music inspired by the sounds of nature.
This lesson idea from Sustainable Learning is a great way to develop musical understanding while getting closer to nature. It can contribute to learning objectives for science, music and P.E. It can be as short or as in-depth as you want.
